A merger of three Scout and Guide groups

In the 1950s, the Melusina group of the AGGL was founded at Fetschenhaff.

The Étoiles Européennes became affiliated with the FNEL in 1975.

1994: Foundation of FIISS

The FIISS group at Fetschenhaff was founded in 1994 by the FNEL with the support of the Melusina unit of the AGGL. Initially, FIISS accepted only boys, while the Melusina unit was for girls.

The two groups organised joint activities under the name Melusina-FIISS and shared some of the same leaders. However, each group retained its own scarf, uniform and committee, as well as its affiliation with one of the two different federations.

1996: Growth

In 1996, the Melusina-FIISS group had more than 50 active members. 'De Fiisschen', the group's newsletter, was published for the first time. This newsletter later developed into the digital 'FIISS News'.

2000: Integration of the Étoiles Européennes

In September 2000, the Étoiles Européennes group was integrated into the Melusina-FIISS group.

This integration made Melusina-FIISS even more international. Alongside Luxembourgish and French, English played an increasingly important role in the activities.

2005: A pause in youth activities

Unfortunately, a shortage of leaders meant that the group had to suspend its youth activities after 2005. However, a committee continued to manage the group.

In the meantime, the two federations developed closer ties. The AGGL made its site at Fetschenhaff available to the FNEL for the construction of a new headquarters.

The former Melusina-FIISS chalet had to be demolished. This was done on the condition that a room for the local Melusina-FIISS group would be included in the new building.

2013: Relaunch of youth activities

When the new FNEL headquarters was inaugurated in May 2013, the youth activities of the group, now known simply as FIISS, were relaunched with the Cub section. Initially, the section was led by two professional FNEL leaders.

After an initial start with a Luxembourgish-speaking pack of around ten Cubs, dedicated volunteers took over the group. They reintroduced the concept of an international group, as had previously been the case with the Étoiles Européennes.

Activities were now offered in Luxembourgish, French and English. Within a short time, FIISS had around 50 Cubs.

2015: Foundation of the Scout section

As the first Cubs grew older, the Scout section was founded in September 2015. Within a short time, this section also had around 50 members.

2022: Foundation of the Explorer section

The Explorer section was added in 2022. Within a relatively short time, this new section had around a dozen members.

2024: Foundation of the Rover and Tembo sections

As the first Explorers had grown older, Rover and Tembo sections were also founded in 2024. This allowed the young FIISS members to continue their Scouting journey within the group.
